Day 11 Phase 3

08.11.13 Email from the US Base office of NVM regarding the many shoes you all have shared; looks like we are doing everything just right! Read Below:

"Greetings! The shoes you are sending are very good quality. Don't change a thing, the missionaries in Haiti are basing their standards on items that were shipped before I took the position of Shipping and Donations Coordinator for NVM. Some of the previous stuff was left overs that did not sell at a garage or yard sale that some one had and they dumped it in on the shipment.  That will not happen anymore.  With that said, your shipments are good quality and all will be shipped to Haiti. Keep up the great work in the name of our Lord."

08.08.13: Day 10 Phase 3
This month received 37 pairs of shoes from Woodcreek Athletic Club; A Delgao, S Bryant's RN's buddies from MFH/ER, L White. Will ship towards the end of the month so still plenty of time to send me more Shoes for Haiti. NVM Haiti has requested no shoes larger than size 10.

Day 9 Phase 3

Many thanks to L White for placing a flyer  at Woodcreek Athletics (Tyler) and the 14 pairs of shoes!
Another 3 pair from B Athey and 1 pair from M Chadwick (via S Bryant).

Second shipment in route and waiting for a more shoes before I ship the third shipment.

My interpreter, Bendy Jean Louis (and my Haitian son). He is the most amazing young man in Haiti. Love his smile!!

Shoes for HAITI

"Welcome"

It is my hearts desire to bring HAITI to you by this blog.
I have had the privilege of visiting HAITI twice in the past year by participating in Mobile Medical Outreach Clinic with NVM, Nehemiah Vision Ministries (Chembrun, Quest).

NVM is located 10 miles from the capital Port-au-Prince.
NVM campus includes a hospital, medical clinic, offices, school, church, cafeteria, volunteer housing, team dorms, warehouse, and various storage facilities.

One of the many things I witnessed was the numerous children and adults without shoes! I humbly share with you all that I am abundant in athletic shoes. As a runner, I have a surplus of shoes that I am unable to run in and I decided to ask around town and collect used athletic shoes and "give back" to HAITI .
I have currently cleaned out my closet and now ready to take the first step in donations. Join me in this outreach by giving me YOUR shoes; I will wash them and have them clean and ready to ship to  HAITI via Indiana (USA corporate office of NVM). If possible a $2-$4 donation per shoe would be helpful to assist with shipping, but not mandatory.

Few Haitians Facts:
  • the average Haitian earns less than $2 a day
  • fifty percent of the population is undernourished
  • one in five children are underweight or under-height for their age
  • twelve percent of Haitian children die before their first birthday
  • thirty-three percent of children do not make it to their fifth birthday
